Privacy Policy

Last updated June 28, 2026

This Privacy Policy explains what information Adopted Adults collects, how we use and share it, and the choices and rights you have. It applies to our website and mobile applications (the “Service”). By using the Service, you agree to the practices described here.

1. Overview

We collect only what we need to run a safe community for hosting and being hosted: the information you provide, a limited amount of technical information, and the result of identity verification. We do not sell your personal information.

2. Information you provide

Account information: your email address, password, first name, and date of birth (used to confirm you are 18 or older).

Profile information: your photos, optional intro video, bio, interests, languages, occupation, and the general area (city and region) you are in.

Listings and stay information: the homes and adoptions you create, your preferences, and details about stays you arrange.

Content and communications: messages you send to other members, reviews you write, and any support requests or reports you submit, including images you choose to attach.

3. Identity verification data

Identity verification is performed by a third-party provider. During verification you may provide a government-issued ID and a selfie directly to that provider. Adopted Adults does not receive or store your raw ID document or selfie; we store only the verification result (for example, verified or not verified) and a reference identifier.

We may also require a short video call between members before a stay is confirmed. We retain a record that a required call took place, not a recording of it.

4. Information collected automatically

When you use the Service, we and our providers may collect limited technical information such as your device and browser type, app version, approximate location derived from your network, log data, and diagnostic and crash information used to keep the Service working.

We use cookies and similar local storage that are necessary to keep you signed in and to operate the Service. We do not use third-party advertising or cross-site tracking cookies.

5. How we use your information

We use your information to: create and operate your account; provide the Service and match hosts and guests; verify identity and keep the community safe; enable messaging and stays; send transactional and safety messages and the notifications you choose; respond to support requests; detect, prevent, and address fraud, abuse, and violations; comply with legal obligations; and maintain and improve the Service.

6. How information is shared with other members

Other members see only a limited public version of your profile: your first name, your photos, your general area, your interests, and your verification status. Your full legal name, exact address, and date of birth are never shown publicly.

Your exact address and other stay details are shared with the other party only after a stay is confirmed, so that a confirmed guest can find the home. You control certain visibility options in your privacy settings.

7. Service providers we work with

We share information with vendors that help us operate the Service, only as needed to perform their functions and under obligations to protect it. These include providers for identity verification, video calls, maps and location lookup, email delivery, database and application hosting, and error monitoring. These providers are not permitted to use your information for their own purposes.

8. When we disclose information for legal or safety reasons

We may disclose information if we believe in good faith that it is reasonably necessary to comply with a law, regulation, legal process, or governmental request; to enforce our Terms; to protect the safety, rights, or property of any person; or to detect, prevent, or address fraud, security, or technical issues.

9. We do not sell your information

We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share it for cross-context behavioral advertising. We are not in the business of monetizing your data.

10. Your choices and rights

You can view and edit your profile, adjust your privacy and notification settings, and delete your account at any time in Settings. Deleting your account removes your profile and listings from the community.

Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, or receive a copy of your personal information, and to object to or restrict certain processing. To exercise these rights, use the in-app tools or contact us; we will respond as required by applicable law and may need to verify your identity first.

11. Data retention and deletion

We keep your information for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide the Service. When you delete your account, we delete or de-identify your personal information, except where we need to retain certain records to comply with legal obligations, resolve disputes, prevent abuse, or enforce our agreements. Backups are purged on a rolling basis.

12. How we protect your information

We use technical and organizational measures to protect your information, including encryption in transit, row-level database access controls so members can reach only the data they are entitled to, and restricted internal access. No system is perfectly secure, but we work to protect your information and to address issues promptly.

13. Children

The Service is for adults 18 and older. It is not directed to children, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18. If we learn that we have, we will delete it. If you believe a minor has provided us information, contact us.

14. Where your information is processed

Adopted Adults is operated from the United States, and your information is processed and stored in the United States and in locations used by our service providers. By using the Service, you understand that your information may be processed in the United States, which may have different data-protection rules than your home country.

15. Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The “last updated” date above reflects the current version, and we will notify you of material changes in the app where appropriate.
