Adopted Adults raises investment to change the way people see and experience the world

In the age of Instagram influencers, Reddit blogs and Airbnb, travel has slowly become less about wandering off the beaten path, widening your perspective and meeting new people, and more about checking off your to-do list of “How to Spend the Perfect Two Days in Paris, France!”

That’s what Adopted Adults is here to fix.

What if travel stopped leaning toward luxury? What if the new normal was staying with a friend who lives there, and anyone could afford it? In five years, it should be mainstream that people regularly choose that over $300 a night on a stale Airbnb or hotel.

Since June the community has grown entirely by word of mouth, to members in 1,364 cities and 98 countries. They are opening their homes and planning whole trips for friends they have never met.

Members are adding their homes because they expect to visit the places they’ve always wanted to see and stay with people like them. Keeping that promise means being everywhere, with enough members that whatever you’re into and whoever you’d want to meet, they’re already on here.
