Identity verification: Verification is performed by a third-party provider (currently Didit) using a government-ID scan, a liveness selfie, and a face match. That provider processes those documents under its own privacy terms. We receive and store only the result: a pass or fail, a verified badge, and a reference identifier. We do not receive or store your raw ID image or selfie.
Information collected automatically: basic device and log information, general app usage, and error diagnostics from our error-monitoring provider (configured not to collect personal identifiers). We use session cookies or tokens to keep you signed in.
Location: the general area (city and state) you select for your profile and listings, refined through a maps provider's address lookup. We store an approximate area, not precise or continuous GPS location.

For members in the EEA or UK, our legal bases are performance of our contract with you, legitimate interests in operating and securing the Service, your consent (for marketing and where otherwise required), and compliance with legal obligations.
We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share it for cross-context behavioral advertising.
We rely on trusted providers, currently including identity verification (Didit), video calling (Daily), maps and address lookup (Mapbox), email delivery (Resend), hosting, database, and file storage (Supabase and Vercel), and error monitoring (Sentry). Each processes data under its own terms. This list may change as the Service evolves.
We use essential cookies or tokens to keep you signed in and to operate the Service. We do not use third-party advertising cookies. Where required, we will present a cookie or consent banner appropriate to your jurisdiction.
We keep your information while your account is active and as needed to provide the Service. After you delete your account, we delete or de-identify your information within a reasonable period, except where we must retain certain records for legal, safety, dispute-resolution, or backup purposes. For example, we may keep limited records of a safety removal to enforce our ban-evasion measures.
Depending on where you live (California, other U.S. states, the EEA, or the UK), you may have additional rights, such as to access, correct, delete, or port your data, or to object to or restrict certain processing. To make a request, contact hello@adoptedadults.com. We will verify your request and respond as required by law, and will not discriminate against you for exercising your rights.
We use reasonable, industry-standard measures including encryption in transit, row-level access controls so members can reach only data they are permitted to, and least-privilege system access. No method is perfectly secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
The Service is for adults 18 and older. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18. If we learn that we have, we will delete it.
We are based in the United States and may process and store information in the United States and other countries where we or our providers operate. For EEA and UK members, we rely on appropriate safeguards such as Standard Contractual Clauses.
We may update this Policy. For material changes we will give reasonable notice, by email or in the app. The effective date above shows when it was last updated.
